Advent calendar

Christmas is aproaching and here it is: My personal avent calendar. I get it every year from my mummy since almost 30 years now. And every year I have to search for the numbers again. This year my mummy told me, she put on every day more than one sweets, so that my colleagues will also profit. I don´t know. I have to think about it. The first one I offered to my direct neigboured colleague - BUT - she denied. Her own fault ....

Nice spider webs

Back to life again !
Right now I am sitting in our office at CERN reading the phd thesis of my colleague CePi. She is doing that important COSY-TOF analysis looking at polarised Lampda physics. I just started reading - typically with the theory chapter - and i must say: I am totally lost. Maybe I skip that chapter and go directly to the experimental results. While thinking on all of that, I saw some nice spider webs directly at the window of our office:

I took this picture with the CAM of my mobile (Nokia 62xx) - at least therefore its not so bad.
It seems I am not ready doing physics again (after only a few hours of sleep) !

Experts working

Ok. right now it is around six o clock in the morning. Untill now I took about 600 Spills of data
out of 1900 possible - if everything works properly. This ends up into a shift efficiency of somewhat 30 %. In between only minor problems with some detectors. Experts from SPS tell me every half hour, that they need an additional half hour to fix it - I am tired - try to get coffee.

The Cat o nine Tails ....

This is just to show you, how it feels like working @ COMPASS ;-) whenever you failed within your job ....

As everybody can see it was already used .....

My first blog

Hi everybody !
This is my first blog. Inspired by a good friend of mine I decided also to create this toy for myself.
Actually I am sitting on nightshift at the COMPASS experiment at CERN and everything works quite smooth - so we are lucky - but this also means, it is a little bit boring to watch all the
TFTs with the experimental data on it.

For me it is the last shift this year - I still have to be expert on call for our detectors untill beginning of next week. So far.
